2005 was a nasty year.. I didn't like 2005 at all.. It had it's good points, but as far as wear and tear on my brains, I lost too much tread from my grey matter.
I made a decision to relearn programming again and to program my sites myself. I felt that I would need to get back into the mud to really understand what's going on with websites and SEO and website marketing software etc.
Going back to 'university' at my age is not the easiest thing. I can see why they say that it's hard to teach old dogs new tricks. I'm pleased to say that I learned way more about programming than I had anticipated and am feeling more confident than ever about developing websites etc.
2006 is going to be all about using what I've learned to develop the best website that competes well in the search engines, and more importantly gives my customers better access to products and services.
The lesson I'm learning is, that if you're going to be marketing on the internet these days, you've got to be really hands on, unless you've got enough cash to hire people to do the nitty gritty work. Even still, it's only getting more and more competitive.
Long gone are the days when you could throw up a few pages and make a few bucks. From here on in, you've got to work at it as if it was a full time job.
That's all right with me. Here's wishing everybody success in 2006!
